The neuron fires most strongly on isolated subword fragments – e.g. standalone punctuation marks and BPE‐style suffix or prefix pieces (like the “d” in “Motivated,” the “グ” in “エグゼクティブ,” the opening quote mark, the “eye” fragment in “red‐eye,” etc.).
